Flexible Video & Graphics Automotive Platform
At the origin, the automotive market reserved TFT displays to navigation systems which was the only car function that could afford it. The overall system was very cost expensive due to both navigation electronics and TFT display module price. Nowadays, with the huge price reduction of TFT displays and quality improvement, display is emerging in more and more car applications. Most common applications are: CLUSTER HUD: Head Up Displays CID:Central Information Display RSE:Rear Seat Entertainment The common factor for all these applications is the need of a Human Man Interface (HMI). Even for CID which was historically the place of the navigation system, it is more and more relevant to consider navigation as an external/optional module (on-board or off-board). For most of the applications, the quality and the look & feel of the HMI becomes a strong differentiator towards competitors, and the electronics necessary to drive TFT displays must be as cost effective as possible. Strong of 30 years of cumulative experience in automotive developments, Imagem Technology has developed the ATHLET® solution which overcomes the challenge to have high-quality HMI at cost-effective prices. ATHLET® is a Video & Graphics IP core optimized for low-cost FPGAs, which allows to address the automotive TFT displays applications through a flexible Video & Graphics platform.
